Cake Decorating 101
Learn the foundations of cake decorating in this hands-on beginner class. Students will learn essential piping techniques including shells, stars, zig-zags, and rosettes, while gaining confidence with proper tools and buttercream handling.
You’ll fill, frost, and decorate your own two-layer 5" cake, applying professional techniques to create a beautifully textured buttercream design. From piping to finishing touches, this class covers it all—and you’ll leave with a fully decorated cake to take home.
Ages 14+
You Will Learn:
- Learn how to Crumb Coat
- Work with American Buttercream
- Learn various piping techniques including; shells, stars, zig-zags, ruffles & rosettes
- Work with multiple piping tips
- Learn how to apply these techniques to your cake.
Class Policy & Attire Guidelines
NY Cake Academy classes are held at our Manhattan flagship location at 118 W 22nd Street, New York, NY.
All class supplies and materials are included.
Our classes are hands-on, interactive experiences. Please wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and keep long hair tied back while working in the kitchen.
Our hands-on classes are limited in size. Each participant will have their own workstation and will complete the projects individually while benefiting from live instruction and guidance throughout the class.
Cancellations, Class Changes & Transfers
Cancellations or class changes must be made at least 3 days prior to the scheduled class. Any class switch or transfer is subject to a $35.00 administrative fee and is based on availability.
